Art is about [self] expression. Being true to one’s ideals and beliefs is very important. It’s a “self” centered approach. It’s not important for people to fully understand your art. You just need to be able to fully express yourself. You don’t even need to explain it. The listener or viewer who relates with it will find their own interpretation of your work.
Entertainment on the other hand is not “self” centered and is solely for the amusement of the listener or viewer.
Imagine this situation: if you’re watching a show on Netflix and you don’t find it entertaining do you continue watching it? Would it matter if the creator and critics said it was a masterpiece?
