Sometimes the problem is we assume you know and understand what needs to be done. I made this for every well meaning fan of Zambian music: this is how you can help the industry.
- SUBSCRIBE TO A MUSIC STREAMING PLATFORM.
Making this your primary method for listening to Zambian music. Recommended platforms are Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer.
- ONLY WATCH MUSIC VIDEOS FROM THE OFFICIAL YOUTUBE CHANNEL OF THE ARTIST
Do not watch a music video unless you are sure that it’s on the official YouTube channel of the artist. Very important.
- FOLLOW YOUR FAVOURITE ARTISTS ON ALL SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND SPOTIFY.
Don’t just follow your favourite artists on one. Follow on every platform that you’re on: Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, Twitter etc.
Following your favourite artists on Spotify means you’ll get notified every time they release something new.
- BUY AN ALBUM EVERY MONTH ON MVESESANI.
Streaming music is the future. But Zambia is yet to reach that future. Currently, nothing helps an artist in Zambia more than you buying their album on Mvesesani. This is a good culture to practice monthly.
- BUY CONCERT TICKETS.
This is something that Zambians already do so well. Please continue
- BUY CDS, VINYLS AND MERCH.
If you see your favourite artist selling CDs, T-shirts, hoodies or shoes, take that as not only an opportunity for you to physically own something of theirs but also understand that this is the highest form of fan support.
